The Hunt meets at Oruawharo, 2 July 1897.  Hunting parties were regular visitors to Oruawharo and were entertained beforehand with the traditional large breakfast and afterwards with tea.

The Dannevirke Hunt still meets at Oruawharo about twice a year
and is hosted with breakfast, including fine port, just as in the past.

Oruawharo, probably taken soon after the house was completed in 1879.  It remains the original dark red colour and the ballroom-billiard room which was added to the left of the house in 1899, is yet to be built.

The original Oruawharo cottage built 1855
2 kilometres south of the Homestead.
