Oruawharo as a Venue

Imagine a parade of gleaming vintage cars lined up in front of one of New Zealand’s most gracious country homesteads, the enthusiast drivers having motored through stunning Hawke's Bay farmland refreshing themselves with a traditional tea on the veranda…

Or a family group seated at a long table in a wood-panelled formal dining room, banqueting in celebration of a special birthday or anniversary…or perhaps gathered on a garden-surrounded lawn for a casual summery lunch.  Afterwards they might fancy a game of croquet or wander over to the restored old farm buildings for photos.

Another day, there might be a party of picnickers seated among a carpet of daffodils beneath hundred-year-old trees, tree-enthusiasts roaming the autumn-toned woodland hill behind the house before warming themselves indoors with lunch in front of a roaring open fire, or a marquee on the lawn to host a wine-tasting for a group of corporates.

Oruawharo’s homestead, gardens and woodlands offer possibilities for all.  A superb wedding venue, the home and surrounds create a unique atmosphere for an almost limitless variety of other special occasions, from business functions to family parties and festive-season dinners.

They make a wonderful destination for outings for interest groups and clubs.  While there visitors can lunch or take a traditional tea, Oruawharo owners Dianne and Peter Harris, will introduce them to the history of their home, and afterwards visitors can wander and view the extensive private collection of art and antiques.

Catering is available for all occasions, and the homestead is easily accessible, just 2km off SH2 in Central Hawke's Bay.
